Fire destroys Hollywood Hills home

September 16, 2009 |  7:09 am

Fire

A house in the Hollywood Hills was destroyed today in a fire.

The fire broke out after 6 a.m. on 2027 Sunset Plaza Drive, overlooking the Sunset Strip in an area where the blaze could have spread to the hillsides and neighboring homes. Dozens of firefighters responded.

The fire razed the home but did not damage other structures, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

It's unclear whether anyone was inside the home, and no injuries were reported.

What ever happened to a short sale?

You're missing the big story here....

The guy who owned the home was a very prominent attorney working among other cases the Johnson&Johnson Motrin case, and $7-8 million worth of priceless artwork including paintings by John Singer Sargeant (or his contemporaries) and a Faberge egg was lost.

The owner claims to have had a "priceless" collection of art and other valuables. He feels the slow response time by L.A.F.D. rather than the L.A.C.F.D. contributed to his property loss. These things should have been either in a museum or in surroundings that had the equivalent protection to a museum to house such valuables. That can't be blamed on either fire department.

you're missing the other big story here.....who cares.

Hilarious Comment, "Who Cares"!!!!!!

A Stradivarius was lost in this fire! I care!

This guy lives at the top of hill that can only be reached by negotiating a long, winding and narrow roadway. The fire department got there in 8 minutes! Was he counting his time spent on hold with "9-1-1"?

anybody know how it started?

so is the art priceless, or worth $7-8 million??

I'm confused. Is the art priceless or worth 7-8 million?

Sure seemed to go up in flames awfully quickly for a residential structure fire. I bet the Arson investigators find some suspicious circumstances related to the fires origin. He should have just sold his egg-

is that a shake roof?????

I have to agree: a stradivarius, a faberge egg, and paintings by Sargent, and also Winslow Homer do NOT belong in a private residence. This guy should get nothing from his insurance company for being such a clown. A stradivarius should be in the hands of Yithzak Perlman, or in professional storage waiting for someone that good. Paintings belong in a museum, which woulld have paid plenty for them. A faberge egg - whatever, a bauble of the rich, but pretty nontheless.
