Manhunt underway in Anaheim double homicide

A manhunt is underway for 31-year-old Anthony Castillo, wanted in the kidnapping of his 5-year-old son after fatally shooting the boy's mother and another man at an Anaheim apartment complex, police said.

An Amber Alert was issued shortly after 8 a.m. today when investigators learned the boy, Ometal Castillo, was reported missing from the apartment. But the alert was canceled about 10 a.m. when the boy was found at another relative's home, said Sgt. Rick Martinez of the Anaheim Police Department.

Castillo remained at large and was last seen driving a red 2000 Honda Civic with California license plate 4JPR120. He is described as Latino, 5-feet-5 and weighing about 150 pounds, authorities said.

The shooting was reported about 4:45 a.m. in the 200 block of South Rio Vista Street, near Lincoln Avenue, said Anaheim Police Sgt. Michael Bustamante.

"We had numerous callers who said they heard shots and screaming coming from the apartment complex," Martinez said.

Police said the shooting was limited to one apartment, where officers found a woman who appeared to be in her 30s with a gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. A man, who investigators believe may be an acquaintance or boyfriend of the woman, also was found with a gunshot and was taken to UCI Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, Martinez said.

"We believed that Anthony Castillo, the father of the child, showed up this morning, a disagreement or dispute broke out, and ultimately Mr. Castillo shot the two -- the man and the female," Martinez said. "At that point, he left with their child, Ometal."

Investigators said the woman had been living in the apartment with a female roommate, who also had a child. They were unharmed.

It was unclear if a custody dispute triggered the shooting. The investigation is still ongoing, Bustamante said.

I Have a Theory that someone did something wrong !

What an idiot. Put him away and throw away the key (after you shoot him in the kneecaps).

Why don't these IDIOTS just go into a closet and just take themselves out.......

Ahh...the (rotten) fruits of society.
