Schwarzenegger, Maria Shriver at Eunice Shriver's bedside

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife, Maria Shriver, were at the bedside of her mother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, who was in critical condition in a Massachusetts hospital, representatives said Friday.

The 88-year-old Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the sister of former President John F. Kennedy, was surrounded by family at a hospital in Barnstable, according to Kirsten Seckler, a spokeswoman for the Special Olympics, which was founded by the elder Shriver.

"Eunice Kennedy Shriver is in Cape Cod Hospital in intensive care in critical but stable condition," said a statement by the Shriver family. "Her entire family is with her -- her husband, all her children and her grandchildren. The family is grateful for the prayers of her many friends."

Maria Shriver is one of five children and the only daughter of Eunice and Sargent Shriver.

Schwarzenegger has been a spokesman for the Special Olympics.

"He and Maria are both there with Mrs. Shriver," said Aaron McLear, a spokesman for the governor.

Many people-myself included- love and appreciate Mrs. Shriver and her familly. She has lived a wonderful life, and right now, I'm praying for her and her family. I know God is very near.

As an American hero, Eunice has survived a lot of turmoil in her life. The death of her brothers John and Robert cannot, even in their individual contexts, be comprehended.

As the founder of Special Olympics, she marshaled her will for a great cause. I donate to that cause each year, and support all those who participate.

I suggest that Michelle Obama take over as spokeswoman for the Special Olympics.

One of the great women of our time, possibly all time. Mrs Shriver, taught her children and the world, the importance of community service by her example.

Champion of all those who don't have a vote or a voice, Eunice Kennedy Shriver has been an advocate for children, the mentally challenged and the unborn.

GOD bless Eunice Shriver and her family at this difficult time. She's in our prayers.

I look forward to being with this nice lady in the presence
of the lord and my wife and sister in HEAVEN
God bless her family, may their hearts find comfort.

Mrs. Shriver thank you for founding Special Olympics and for the hard work you have done over the years. I take part in the Special Olympics golf every year, and I enjoy it very much. You are in my prayers. I will keep on praying for you. I am with your family all the way.

Another reason to remember the wonderful things that the Kennedy family has done for the American people. It seems we have the tendicy to only bring up the unfortunate things that happen in someones life. She will always be an example that we all should forever try to imitate.

Mrs. Shriver was a gracious lady. I think Maria Shriver is one of the classiest women in our society today. Having lost my own mom in 2006, who was the epitome of a lady, I feel her pain but know Maria will show grace and dignity in her sorrow. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the family and friends that knew and loved Mrs. Shriver.

To the Kennedy family , rarely do we give back more than we have recieved , but nothing can compare to the smile on a childs face when they have accomplished a mile stone in there life , for that we thank you , god bless your family

You are all in our thoughts and Prayers...God bless her and may she rest in peace ....

Thank you Eunice, for starting the Special Olympics. You, who are among the rich people chose to think of the handicapped instead of the thrills of what wealth can bring. God Bless YOU for rememering God's Special Ones.
I have a Down's Syndrome son. Pretty handicapped mentally, but my "Joy" in life. I feel blessed having been the mother of a child like my Mikey.
May you rejoice with the Angels Eunice, that is where you are now.
Until we all meet again,
In loving Memory,
Mildred C. Gaebe

May God and His angels embrace your mother and hold her gently in His arms forever for all the goodness that she did while here on earth. May He also bless you and your family and give you strength and inner peace.
What fond memories you will have of this truly remarkable woman! How wonderful for you that she was born to be your mother.
With great respect, I send you my sincere sympathy at this time.

Who were Eunice Shriver's siblings??!?!?! NOBODY WILL TELL ME!!!!!
