Ryan Jenkins corrupted by Hollywood lifestyle, his father says

Jenkins found dead in B.C. motel

The father of a reality show contestant believed to have murdered model Jasmine Fiore says he's struggling to come to terms with the accusation and that he believes his son was corrupted by the Hollywood lifestyle.

Ryan Jenkins, a Calgary real estate executive who was a contestant on two VH1 reality TV shows, was found dead Sunday at a British Columbia motel, eight days after he allegedly killed Fiore, placed her in a suitcase and dumped her in a Buena Park trash bin.

“If my son was guilty, he was crazy. He was not the boy we knew. The boy we knew was not capable of anything remotely close to this act,”  Dan Jenkins, a prominent Calgary architect, told The Times.  “You talk to everyone here who knew him before he went down there and they’ll talk about a wonderful young man, a thoughtful man."

Jenkins said the son appears to have fallen into the wrong crowd in Hollywood and that he was incapable of the violence he is accused of committing. He  “would faint at the sight of blood," Dan Jenkins said, adding he could not speak about details of the case.

Detectives are investigating whether Jenkins got help disposing of Fiore's body and whether others aided and abetted him after she was slain, law enforcement sources told The Times today.

The law enforcement sources, who spoke to The Times on the condition that they not be named because the investigation is ongoing, said officials want to know whether Jenkins received help fleeing the Los Angeles area and hiding in Canada. Jenkins was on the run for more than a week, slipping into Canada on Wednesday.

At a news conference at the Buena Park police station Sunday night, Lt. Steve Holliday was asked whether Jenkins got help when he allegedly killed Fiore. Holliday would say only: "I do believe he participated in the murder."

Canadian officials declined to identify the woman who apparently checked into the motel with Jenkins but said their investigation is continuing.

There are a lot of people living the "hollywood lifestyle" - most of them have not resorted to murder.

Hollywood does not RUIN a person...it merely hastens the process. You can't tell me that anything in tinseltown has the power to make a STRONG person turn into a raving maniac, a crazed killer, or a dope-addled starlet. There are many folks that have gone to Hollywood and managed not to murder anyone, have an ugly mug shot plastered all over hte internet, exposed their pantyless private parts as they sit in a slovenly manner in the back of a taxi/limo whatever. The people that are corrupted by Hollywood are weak in the first place. I'm tired of jerks and bimbos being made as victims by their parents and friends. Where were those parents and friends when these twits were growing up? Who was supposed to give them some backbone so that they could 'just say no' to the miscellany of temptation that abound not only in Hollywood, but nearly everywhere. It's just that Hollywood gets all the play, because that's where the largest collection of ne'er-do-wells congregate, while grasping wildly and desperately at small straws that are designed to accomplish little for the grasper and much for the temptor.

Jenkins was corrupted by his father's money and influence first.

Ultimately, this family must bear the shame.

So, it's everybody else fault and not his son's? I think Rayn was corrupted long before he came anywhere close to Hollywood.

Oh Yeah, the Father thinks his kid is a fine upstanding, moral Person, and it's Hollywoods, fault his kid got corrupted. Too bad about the guy, but it's the guys fault, not his Fathers, not Hollywoods, nobody but the guy. The guy obviously took responsibility and killed himself. That's it, end of story.

He was beating up woman back when he lived in Calgary. Face it dad, your son was a hot head, and how disgusting that you say Hollywood corrupted him. You are out of touch and there is I'm sure something in the way he was brought up that made him into the hot head he was He obviously had no appreciation for all the good he had in his life. I've seen it time and time again, a spoilt good looking guy who thinks he can get away with murder. He is like the Preppy killer in NYC - but oh yes corrupted at 32 years of age, even though he was ordered to undergo anger management 10 years ago after beating another woman.

This is beyond laughable.

A man kills a woman and then his father blames hedonistic Hollywood.

Guess what Mr. Jenkins? YOUR son chose to become part of the Hollywood lifestyle. YOUR son allegedly killed his wife. It's a terrible thing to absorb, but should we blame you for raising a psychopath? Or should we blame you for raising a son that was easily swayed by falling in with the wrong crowd?

Fact of the matter is that YOUR son likely murdered someone. He made these choices. That's all there is to it.

Any way you look at this situation, it's horrid. Two people are dead and you blame Hollywood?

Perhaps you should just tell the press that it's an emotional time for you and your family, express condolences for the victim and her family and keep your mouth shut.

Hollywood lifestyle, whatever you son is the devil. I wish we could of caught the devil and cut each finger off and pull each tooth off and each arm and leg. I lost sleep thinking of this devil...

Don't you just love it? Jenkins was corruped by the "Hollywood lifestyle"... sounds to me like Southern California was corruped by Jenkins. Why can't parents just say, "We did our best and we are heart broken by these events and we morn for both Ryan and Jasmine's family". But that won't happen... everything has to be someone else's fault. It's all very sad...

Check out the producers of that reality show. They are like vampires, suck on the blood of the naive.

I would bet, he was drugged and provided someone with details of his assets. Then a blond golddigger was sent to marry him. So now both of them dead, who gets the money?

Will someone please tell Mr. Jenkins that "Hollywood" did not kill Fiore, his son killed Fiore. Dont blame other people for the actions your son chose to make.

Innocent people don't disappear, sneak into another country, and kill themselves.

Now "victim Ryan" ... who Cut Off All his ex wife's fingers and Crudely Pulled Out All of Jasmine's Teeth in order to prevent identification of her remains....

.. Is "The Victim" of Los Angeles "Lifestyle"?

How many ex wives in Los Angeles have had All their Teeth Ripped Out and All Fingers Cut Off with a pruning Lopper in the last 20 years ?

Yeah, Los Angeles turns ex husbands into Murderous Monsters!

Hmmm, ok, blame it on the evils of hollywood. Look, this young man had evil in his heart, and he was attracted to the vainest of the vain in Hwood. If the dood was a do gooder, he would've gone and fed the hungry in the jungles of Africa.

I'm sorry for the father's loss, but to blame it on the environment is poppycock. The dood had demons and Hwood brought out the worst in him. Hwood is not for everyone...

No one knows what anyone is capable of until they do it. Was he a likely candidate to commit such an act? How well could/did his friend or loved ones really know him? What drives a seemingly normal, sucessful person to commit such a horrible & unforgivable act? Honestly we weren't there we dont know. No one can surmise the state of mind or circumstances under which is incredibly unfortunate situation occurred.

And now that he's dead & we can never ask him. It is my hope that more evidence will come to light that can further explain how something like this can happen because right now I don't know that anyone could have really seen it coming and for me, that's the scariest thing of all about this whole mess.

So poor boy was corrupted by Hollywood lifestyle, eh? I think it's an excuse because he could have chosen to be away from the "crowd." I'ts amazing that money will lure you to these types of behavior. If he was out of control, could he gotten some help or MTV Network offered psychiatric services for him?

Hollywood, like most other things in life, reveals what kind of character you have. I'm sure he was the type of guy that would never be able to commit the atrocity he is accused of, but if you're not strong enough when placed with others of questionable character then you're much more susceptible to allow your underbelly to rear its ugly head.

I think its truly sad that the American media and public have automatically assumed Ryan Jenkin's guilt. Who are we to judge and know that this guy is guilty before any of the hard facts have been presented and released? (i.e DNA, hard evidence ect) So far the information that has been given to the public has been based on circumstantial evidence and suspicious behaviour. Basically, this has turned into a media frenzy because of the fact that he ran. How do we know that he didnt want to get out of the States, because he knew that these types of crimes always turn towards the husband, and the justice system in the States would not give him the fair trial that he deserved. I understand that he is seen leaving the hotel by himself in the morning, but has anyone even confirmed that she slept at the hotel that night ?? What if she stayed at her other boyfriends house that lived in San Diego that recently got out of prison days before? It would not be the first time that she went off with another man. She was even trying to go to vegas to see her ex-boyfriend the night before she died. And the fact that he has a similar suitcase.. these two were married, it may have been part of a set that they had. Plus the checkout time was Friday morning, and the coroner indicated her time of death around 1 AM Saturday. Why has everyone forgotten of the reports stating that she packed all of her bags in her car (which still hasnt been found) when she told her roommate that she was going to Vegas on Friday?? If she stopped to see anyone before she left, they too could have used her own suitcase which was in her car. Did the hotel say they found copious amounts of clothes in the room? What would he have done with the stuff that was in the suitcase. He wasnt seen carrying it out in his hands. Since she was obviously mixed up with alot of shady people, and put herself in a lot of situations in the past that could have imposed extreme danger, how do we know that this is not what happened either. Ryan was missing since the Saturday that he reported her missing as well. Why would he report her missing instead of just making a clean break and run for it? Maybe he was truly done with their relationship and finally decided to leave her, so got his things and his boat and headed back to his home in Canada (where he could work! ) As he was probably making his way back, he heard the news of Jasmine, and heard what the judge jury and convictors, aka.
AMERICAN PUBLIC, were saying about him and freaked out. Everyone knows the justice system is flawed in the USA. The mere fact that you are guilty until proven innocent in the USA would have made any Canadian native run back to Canada as the justice system in Canada assumes innocence before proven guilty. Unlike the USA, other countries such as Canada have to learn about other countries justice systems in grade school.
The way that the American media has portrayed Ryan is just sickening. Considering that they said that his laptop was in his room where he was found, means that he had probably heard and read everything that people were saying and felt that his life was over either way. Even if he was to have gotten a fair trial (which is highly unlikely) and he was proven innocent, he would have forever been known as the guy that got away with murder in the American publics eye. Why does the USA even have a judicial system if the media can so easily convict people on hearsay, gossip and misleading information?

Even look at the reports that this Paulina girl was apparently the one who helped him. Every posters comment on her was sooo quick to convict her and say that she should be charged, then the RCMP clearly state that it is not her. People should really stop jumping to conclusions so early.

This whole situation is extremely sad, and my heart goes out to both families. I hope that he is found innocent, so that the American people can be ashamed of their actions, and then maybe we will stop believing everything that is presented to us in the media!

Ryan got in too deep with strangers. This girl was a player who married him when she saw how wealthy he was. His wealth was exactly the reason she never had the marriage annulled, like she told her mother. Most of us let go of our "ex's" when we marry, not carry on affairs with them.
Of course, it never justifies murder! But it is crazy making behavior. He should have turned himself in and pleaded crime of passion & provocation. My guess is he couldn't live with himself. Horrible for all concerned.

of course a father wouldn't want to call his son a homicidal maniac capable of such a heinous crime.

he was charged with assault years ago in Canada, before his Hollywood influence. clearly these issues were not brought about by a wrong crowd

Poor father; in his grief I doubt he realizes how ridiculous he sounds.

"Wonderful" and "thoughtful" young men are not empty vessels that passively "fall into the wrong crowd", murder and mutilate their ex-wives, flee the investigation, and then kill themselves rather than account for their actions.

I think misogyny has a lot more to do with this than Hollywood, even if latter promotes the former.

Look at the Canadian blogs of Ryan's past relationships.

Our local Calgary news has had several stories about the violence Ryan laid on women years before landing in the States.

Don't confuse yourself. Ryan worked as a junior salesman for an essentially bankrupt Calgary real estate investment scheme that is facing a barrage of litigation- google "Concrete Equities".

Daddy bought the boats and BMW's.
