Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades was closed today after power lines fell onto a tree and a bus, officials said.

The incident occurred around 8 a.m. near the intersection of Chautauqua Boulevard and PCH. The highway was closed in both directions as crews removed the power lines.

No injuries were reported, but traffic was backed up.

Traffic STILL backed up!

Still must be closed- cant drive anywhere in the Palisades!!!orout... 2:12 PM!

IN THIS DAY AND AGE WHY CAN'T CALTRANS CLEAR A MAJOR HIGHWAY LIKE PCH IN LESS THAN 5 HOURS....DISASTER WHAT WERE THEY DOING?

took two hours to go from Sunset the the PCH ... and then up Temescal Canyon (about three miles) today around noon. What a backup.
Hope everyone has some emergency supplies (food and water) in their car -and at home-'cause a major earthquake will make todays back up look easy.

I got caught in the traffic twice going to the Beach House from Santa Monica. What's up with all these trees falling? I live on 7th street in SM and we've had several large eucalyptis trees fall over during no apparent weather events. Does anyone know what kind of tree it was that fell?
