Men escape after robbing Newport Beach bank

Three men wearing masks robbed a Newport Beach bank today and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The men stormed into the Bank of America branch at 2501 E. Bluff Drive about 11 a.m.

"They came in and jumped over counters," said Sgt. Chuck Freeman of the Newport Beach Police Department.

There were no reports of any weapons brandished by the men, Freeman said. They fled in a white Chevrolet SUV that was recovered a few blocks away. The vehicle had been stolen from Los Angeles, Freeman said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (800) 550-6273.
