Man fatally shot while riding bike in South L.A.

A man was fatally shot this evening while riding his bike on a South Los Angeles street.

The shooting took place shortly before 6 p.m. as the man peddled in the 600 block of West 81st Street, said Officer Gregory Vaek of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The man, who was in his 30s, was shot in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Vaek said. The suspected attacker was seen with a gun fleeing into an alley behind 81st Street.
