Jackson family still deciding where to bury Michael Jackson

August 10, 2009 |  8:56 am

More than a month after the death of Michael Jackson, his family still hasn't decided where to bury the pop star.

Brother Jermaine Jackson, speaking in an interview with CNN being broadcast today, said the burial location will ultimately be decided by his mother, Katherine Jackson, who now has custody of Michael Jackson's children.

Jermaine Jackson said he would like his brother to be buried at Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara County. In the days after Jackson's death, there was widespread speculation that the Jackson family would bury him there after a large service. At the time, some residents worried about thousands of fans jamming the mountain roads leading up to Neverland.

Jermaine Jackson did not say where his mother would like Michael buried. And the interview did not address the issue of where Jackson's body is currently being kept -- an issue of some tabloid speculation.

"I'm just concerned about security and being secure in a peaceful setting," he told CNN. "At the end of the day, she will make the final decision."

Meanwhile, there will be another hearing in L.A. court over Jackson's estate, and reports out of Europe say a Jackson tribute concert is being planned for Vienna.

I have watch the Michael Jackson sudden death issue since it has all happen. I feel that it is foul play. My feelings on were he should be buried is Neverland that is where he was inspired and were he was the most happy. He loved children you could tell that and that is what he was about. He wanted to help change the world. If everyone would just sit and listen to his music you would understand what Michael Jackson was about and what he was trying to do in this world. Listen to the lyrics in Cry, Heal the world, Will you be there, the Earth song. Listen to the lyrics. He was brillant and now he is gone due to someone greed. My prays and blessing goes out to his family and children. May you rest in peace Michael and may the media leave you alone now.

i think that Micheal jackson should be buried were his mother Katherine wants him to be.Leave it up to his father the Jackson family willl never have peace.

I thought he'd already been buried last week at Forest Lawns? Please please please... let the matter now rest. Michael got no peace in life so please let him have peace in death. RIP Michael. Greatly misunderstood, greatly loved and greatly missed. Always.

...I feel Michael had come to terms with his " trails and tribulations" in Santa Barbara county and realized and learned empathy from what being a victim of a "witch hunt" could be like he knew these people knew not what they did for he was a much more enlightened man than any greedy families or irrelevent hell-bent prosecutors from un-real land" could ever hope to become. He was at peace and ready for a comeback but sometimes "people " get in the way they are commonly referred to as obstacles, some of these come unseen unfortunetly...he would love to rest in Neverland with peace and security at his head...

its been very very long and he is still not buried..while it is the family's decision, maybe it wouldn't have been a bad idea to consider cremation..coz this saga has been a bit drawn out..he needs to r.i.p

Please...anywhere but here! How about in New Orleans, which could use the tourist stimulus?

Jermaine Jackson wants to be sure you can make a buck off his corpse, that's the reason for the delay.

My thoughts and opinions are torn on where Michael Jackson should be buried. I understand the concept behind Neverland because, had it not be tarnished, he most definitely would have appreciated the peace and serenity of the land. Despite the famous people buried there, I don't know that he would have been keen on the idea of Forest Lawn - somehow it is just too ordinary for such an extraordinary man. I don't know the beliefs of the Jehovah's Witness, however, there's a part of me that thinks cremation would be ideal; scattering his remains throughout the world or on a moon mission; saving some of his precious ashes in an amazingly expensive, spectacular and unique urn for his children to cherish forever. Wherever his spirit has flown, however, you just know he is creating, musing, watching over his children and planning his comeback when he returns to Earth. It's a nice thought.

Please bury the poor man. It is crazy.

forest lawn!............r.i.p.

Michael is alive, he's making an announcement in a few weeks.

I'm beginning to think that maybe he DIDN'T die! This is starting to get very mysterious, especially the way the family refuses to bury his corpse. Maybe he is alive and planning a triumphant return?

I just do not think he should be buried at Forest Lawn nothing against the place but since he did not want to go back to Neverland ,I just think a more fitting place then Forest Lawn is where MJ should be really.- Crazy how everyone wants to be the bio- parent of the children now. If MJ wanted the children to go to Diana Ross if something happened to his mother then that is who they should be go to -not Debbie Rowe- who is now getting visitation rights. She did sale them -well she played no part all this time. This was just a way to make sure Ross did not get them. Ross would be a good parent to the children. MJ was still a legend and yes, He was addicted but look at all that he went through-his childhood-and getting 3rd degree burns -what can you even image all the pain and procedures from that. The focus should not be on MJ had more than one drug in his system. It should still be on the doctor and I do not know why charges have not been made. Trying to keep a mother from filing a wrongful death for her son because of the promoters. This is crazy.MJ with his addiction and all deserves more than this. I still hope the detectives do their job well. How can this doctor not be charged with something? Glad that Neverland -part of it maybe going to Vegas for the people. Also, unless you have Lupus you will never truly understand how somedays you are stiff , in pain, and can not get around -it can be constant.Like your nerves going haywire but no one can see it. MJ will always be remembered for his goodness!

I think Jackson's remains should be cremated and his ashes launched to the moon. Then he can moonwalk for all enternity.

Seriously, I couldn't care less. By the time they're finished with the 100th autopsy, there'll be nothing left of him except the glove.

i must admit when ever i heard the rumour that he was to be buried at neverland i didnt like the idea, cause he said himself the place was violated after the trial and he never wanted to live there again, but on the other hand he never had the strength to sell it cause despite all the hurt he associated with the place he still felt some thing for it. he could have sold it if he wanted2but he went out of his way to save it last year, if he were buried there it would insure it would always belong to him, giving him the last laugh over all the critics who said he couldnt afford it
i also think part of him always compared himself to the king of rock'n'roll, elvis, so to have a graceland-style tribute would probably please him, and it would bring in money for his kids too which is always good.
formost, i think he would want us to see what HE SAW in neverland - i think he would love to see people visit and be happy there, to see through visiting him at neverland who he really was as a person,i think he would love to see it restored to its former glory and all the demons of neverland's past gone
these are just my thoughts, i love him and respect his family's decision no matter what.

I remember a family song called 2300 Jackson St. There's a lyric in the song where Michael says he'll always find his way back home. Why not take him full circle, back to Gary. They could build a Memorial for the whole family. Unfortunately, his parents and siblings will someday join him in time, so why not make it a place where they can all be at peace and back together again. I would love for Mrs. jackson to get him away from the scrutiny and big city lights of California. Just take him back home. R.I.P. Michael <3 A fan 4 Life

How about in the ground? Enough is enough let's get over this non important issue and move on.

He is dead and should be buried...the family is having troubles finding the venue that will raise them the most money....that seems to be all the family seems interested in.JMO

The big question is not whether the family all agrees for MJ to be buried in Neverland or not....this is not the issue, the real issue is; will Santa Barbara county approve the burial and making Neverland another Graceland. This is the real hurdle, esp. with S. Barbara as a playground for the rich they will strongly oppose this move. To open Neverland, it will put S. Barbara open and accessible to everybody thus cheapening the prized land of the wealthy few.

However, the npeople of Santa Barbara county should take a second look of this issue - the real people, the service people the average joes who claims S. B. as their birthright but was pushed out of homeownership because of the super rich buying up all the property and making it their summer pads. Most of these super rich don't even live there. I read few years back that even the local cops of S. Barbara cannot afford to live in the city where they work and was forced to take up residency in the next county.

Opening Neverland will actually even the playing field maybe a bit...it will create jobs for the locals...i.e the waiters and aitresses the teachers, the cops , the nurses and etc., and yeah it will turn off some of the stand offish rich and they will leave the city and quess what maybe then the place will be affordable to the average family for the first time. So think about it....

I just do not think he should be buried at Forest Lawn nothing against the place but since he did not want to go back to Neverland ,I just think a more fitting place then Forest Lawn is where MJ should be really.- Crazy how everyone wants to be the bio- parent of the children now. I think the family will bury him wherever they can make the most money off the spectacle. Too bad Michael didn't make a provision for his burial in his will. It would be one less thing for the family to fight over. Just get him in the ground!

he's at forest lawn. secretly done overnight.

Either bury him at Forest Lawn. They are capable of handling celebrity burial sites or cremate him and spread the ashes over Neverland. It is unfair to create a celebrity curio site in a private residential neighborhood. Also, the status of Neverland is unclear. Is it really being held in a holding company to create immunity from debtors for a seven year period? Or has it been outright purchased by a private entity?

How about having him stuffed ? after all his cosmetic surgeries it probably wouldn't cost much and then his "family" could send him out on the road in side show acts ... like the rest of the Jackson family.

i really do think they should bury him at neverland because now he will never grow up he will stay the same age forever just like peter pan. R.I.P Michael.

I believe Michael's brain has just recently been returned. Now he can be burried whole. Katherine should decide. If it was up to Joe, and maybe Jermaine, they would take his body on a world tour to arenas so they can make a fortune, and they would have Paris, Prince and Blanket as the opening act. If he's buried at Forest Lawn, what kind of provision can they make for security? No matter what, short of a couple of 24/7 security guards, Michael's body won't be safe. That's why they had to move Elvis. I wouldn't even trust the security guards. Wherever he's buried, may he rest in eternal peace.

lay him to rest, for god's sake. enough's enough. done. finito.

scatter his ashes and be done with it.....both society and Jackson have suffered enough

for the informer

Michael died. I feel it. He is not more with us.

Fred

Whatever decision has to be made please make it and put MJ in the ground. He didn't have peace on earth, so please let him have peace now that he is gone. MJ haven't done no worser than any other human being has done. Everybody is & were just for his money. MJ songs tell you what he's about, bottom line. Now family please make the decision and let him rest!! Love you MJ!!!!!

c'est normale que la famille veuille le protéger en l'hinumant en secret il faut le laisser reposer en paix, laisser tranquille sa tombe. Nous avons toutes ses musiques, ses clips tout pour ne pas l'oublier. FOR EVER MICHAEL

POUR LA FAMILLE JACKSON JE LEUR dirais SIMPLEMENT JE SUIS désolée LA DISPARITION DE MICHAEL EST UNE GRANDE PERTE Pourra PERSONNE NE LE RENPLACER NI MEME L'Imiter IL ETAIT ET RESTERA UNIQUE. C'EST POURQUOI IL FAUT MAINTENANT LE LAISSER reposer en paix.

I think because of California law, Michael has to be at Forest Lawn or the family received some type of a waiver and his body is at the family compound in Encino until his final resting place is ready.

They should do something with his body. So we all can go on with our life. We will always love Michael and have concerns for his kids and other family members. It's not our call. For the kids sake I will they would do something. These kids will suffer for a long time. No one will treat them as good as Michael did. I love Michael and his kids. I will always keep them in my prays. I was in LA this pass week-end. So many people was visiting his walk of fame star and place flowers and notes. So sad we all are still graving. God help us not be so sad. We all must give him to god. God wanted him more than we did. Peace to all. God Bless.

there are many facts that michael jackson is alive. well, those speculations of where he is bury is not true......whose parents will gonna do this if his son is alive ..... how many times they decide this issue? Its over. miko, wherever you are .....ENJOY YOUR LIFE .....GOD BE WITH YOU.
