Two arrested in fatal North Hollywood shootout
Los Angeles police arrested two men this morning in connection with a deadly shootout between two gangs at a gas station in North Hollywood.
Sergio Ramirez, 19, was shot multiple times in the 6700 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard just before 9 p.m. Tuesday.
He died after friends took him to a hospital, according to a Los Angeles Police Department news release. Detectives determined the homicide resulted from a shootout between rival gangs and arrested Nestor Otero, 24, and Bryan Torres, 19, both of North Hollywood, in connection with the shooting, authorities said.
Det. Rich Wheeler, of the North Hollywood division, said Otero was arrested at the scene and that Torres was arrested at the hospital. Otero and Torres are from different gangs, and police were searching today for additional suspects, Wheeler said.
Bail for Otero and Torres was set at $1 million each.
