Fires burning along 170 Freeway in San Fernando Valley [Updated]

Several grass fires were burning along the 170 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley.

Los Angeles city firefighters were battling the blazes, which broke out near the 170 junction with Oxnard Street in North Hollywood. KTLA News showed smoke flowing over the freeway, which remained open.

It's not known what caused the fires. No structures are currently threatened.

[Updated at 2 p.m.: The six spot fires have been extinguished.]
