Family left homeless by Boyle Heights apartment fire

Aptfire1 A family of eight was displaced this morning by a two-story apartment fire in Boyle Heights.

Aptfire2 Two firefighters also were injured in the 6:23 a.m. blaze in the 2900 block of Wynwood Lane, which caused more than $250,000 in damage.

One firefighter suffered minor facial injuries and another a foot injury.

The family that lived in the apartment unit “lost everything,” said David Ortiz of the Los Angeles city Fire Department.

The cause of the fire, which was controlled in 15 minutes, was determined to be accidental.
