Drug agency joins investigation of Michael Jackson's death

July 1, 2009 |  7:41 pm

The Drug Enforcement Administration is now assisting the L.A. County coroner's office and the Los Angeles Police Department in the probe into the circumstances surrounding Michael Jackson's death, two sources told The Times today.

Authorities removed prescription medications and two bags of "medical evidence" from the Holmby Hills home where the pop star was found dead last Thursday. Law enforcement sources told The Times that investigators are also interviewing doctors who treated Jackson and prescribed him medication.

It remains unknown whether prescription drugs played a role in Jackson's death. An autopsy performed Friday did not determine a cause of death, and the coroner's office is awaiting the results of toxicology tests.

The exact role of the DEA remains unclear.

Surprise, surprise, surprise!

The nurse who reported on national television that Michael Jackson requested her to administer Diprovan (propofol) violated the patient/nurse relationship and should be admonished. Any discussion between a patient and his physician or other medical personnel is privileged, and yet she chose to go on television and disclose this information. A book cannot be far behind. It would have been more proper and professional for her to have reported this information to medical personnel who performed the autopsy and even law enforcement, and yet she instead chose to go on national television. That is not to say that this request was not made of her by Michael Jackson but she clearly violated the Privacy Act by disclosing this information on national television.

Okay, MJ passed away. So sad, rest in peace, MJ. That being said, someone should be well advised that MJ was not royalty, he is not The Deity, a martyr, or God himself. He was merely an entertainer. Bury the dead and stop prolonging the circus already. Worship of an entertainer is not only unseemly, it is very odd, unnatural, and creepy. Move on. Farrah Fawcett has already been laid to rest with much less fanfare. It's almost as if some are trying to 'keep him alive' in some macabre fashion.

I think Michael Jackson is addicted to drugs to help him remove his pain, or to make him "feel better", whether mentally or physically. But in order for him to get those drugs that he wanted, he needed the doctor's authorised prescription. As for that Doctor Murray, I think he must have been ecstatic to be hired as Michael's personalized doctor as he would be paid handsomely. And Michael must have begged that doctor to let him have those drugs that he needed. And I guess that because Doctor Murray wanted to keep his well-paid job as his personal doctor and was afraid that he would lose this job if he didn't prescribe those drugs to Michael, he therefore relented and gave him those drugs to prevent being sacked from his job and to keep Michael happy. My next question is, who is the one who administered those lethal drugs to Michael? Was it Michael himself or any other person/doctor?

Who really knows if the nurse administered the Diprovan (propofol) to Michael. There has to be an alernative to any sleeping disorder. Diprovan (propofol) is only used for serious operations and there is an anestheseiologist there monitoring the patient. if it turn up in Toxilogy report that its in hs systems oh Lord thert wil be another huge story..
