Sheriff's detectives investigate shooting death in Compton

Los Angeles County sheriff’s detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man early today in Compton, authorities said.

The victim was shot shortly after midnight in the 1300 block of North Tamarind Avenue and taken to a  hospital, where he died, said Deputy Guillermina Saldana, a sheriff’s spokeswoman.

The victim’s name and other details were not immediately available.
