L.A. County sued over sexually transmitted diseases in porn industry
A prominent AIDS advocacy group has filed a petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court alleging that county public health officials have failed to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases in the pornographic film industry.
The petition, filed Thursday by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, asks the court to order the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to enforce regulations that require condom use in adult film production or take other reasonable steps to stem the spread of disease.

Is there no end to the litigious lunacy? The county enacts regulations in response to STDs being spread in the porn industry to protect industry workers, then the industry, which is obviously aware that STDs are doing well within their ranks, disregards the regulations.
Why is the AIDS group going after the county? Why don't they sue the industry members who disregard the regulations, knowingly put their workers at risk, and make millions?
Welcome to the decline of a culture. When "It's their fault for not protecting me when I willingly take my pants off and have sex with everyone when I know the risks." becomes the responsibility of the government, things are definitely on the decline. Whatever happened to personal responsibility? It's not a county problem. Want to stop the spread of STDs? Keep your pants on. At the risk of being vilified, like it or not, it's a moral issue. Not financial, and not government. But then the industry, which is protected under free speech laws, would go out of business! And then people would be out of work. And then many others wouldn't get addicted to porn and destroy marriages and lives. And the health care system wouldn't be overloaded with those who know or should have known the risks when they decided to go into the business and ended up with an STD. I'm thinking now.... hmm...one man, one woman; no one else. Might just be a good reason for that having been included in the owners manual.

Oh, Michael, Michael (Weinstein - AHF), you've been out of the spotlight for too long...there's nothing like a fluffy lawsuit to get your name back in the press.

The county has as much control over the use of condoms in the Porn industry as the County has in controling the number of companies that hire illegal alliens. Go after the employers for harvesting an unsafe work environment.

This is an unusual lawsuit at best. My biggest question is how the County of Los Angeles is supposed to enforce regulations that require condom use in adult film production. What specifically is the County supposed to do? Send a Public Health Nurse to every filming location and put a condom on the actor(s)?
Those involved in the adult film agency know the risks. Some actors forgo wearing condoms because they will get paid more money for their services. Others just don't want to wear condoms because they feel it diminishes the sexual experience. They are putting themselves and their partners at risk for contracting a deadly disease and take their chances nonetheless.
This lawsuit is ridiculous.

how can this group file this lawsuit?
They have no standing and are not affected by the business practices of the porn group...unless this aids group produces porn.
Otherwise seems frivolous and will cost taxpayers $$ to defend it.
Thanks for that.
idiots.
