Perris man, nephew drown in reservoir in Fallbrook

A 26-year-old Perris man and his young nephew drowned while fishing at a reservoir in Fallbrook in northern San Diego County, authorities said.

Fernando Damian Molina Azpeitia and 3-year-old Gabriel Ramos were fishing late Saturday when they apparently slipped into the steep-sided reservoir, officials said.

Family members saw the child's body floating in the reservoir. He was pronounced dead at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido. Sheriff's Department divers recovered Azpeitia's body.

My heart goes out to the victims. Take some time and learn a few water safety tips from http://www.BoatResponsibly.com. I encourage children to wear a life jacket while being near or in the water. There are some situations we cannot prevent but we can prepare for them. My condolences to their family.
