Parolee accused in Long Beach assault and carjacking

July 18, 2009 |  9:31 pm

A 44-year-old parolee faces arraignment Monday on charges that include kidnapping, carjacking and attempted sexual assault of a Long Beach woman, authorities said Saturday.

Long Beach police said Dennis Davis is suspected of accosting the 27-year-old woman on May 22 in the 100 block of Roswell Avenue as she was leaving her parked car about 9:45 p.m.

Police said the armed Davis demanded money from the woman and forced her to drive him to an ATM machine when she told him she had no money with her.

En route, Davis began touching the woman and making inappropriate comments, police said. The woman jumped out of the car and flagged down a passing motorist, who called police.

Investigators said the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office filed four felony counts Thursday in connection with the case: kidnapping to commit another crime, kidnapping for carjacking, making criminal threats, and assault with the intent to commit a felony.
