Website for Jackson tickets gets 500 million hits in first hour

Organizers of Michael Jackson's memorial said that in the first hour after ticket details were announced this morning, the website www.staplescenter.com had received more than 500 million hits.

Fans must register on the site for a chance to be awarded, by lottery, a pair of the 17,500 free tickets that will be made available to the public for Tuesday's memorial service.

A news release from the Jackson family said the website is set up to prevent duplicate registrations from being accepted and that registering more than once would not increase a person’s chance of getting the wristbands and tickets necessary for the event.

Meantime, up in Los Olivos, the owners of Neverland Ranch released a statement today saying they will not allow any more tours or interviews to be conducted at the estate until the memorial service is over. The statement read:

"In deference to Michael Jackson and his family, Neverland Ranch will close its magical gates to the media and will not conduct any events from 7:00 pm Friday, July 3 until after the scheduled memorial for Michael Jackson on Tuesday, July 7. This will enable all of us, including his fans and family, to focus on the Tuesday celebration of Michael’s life at the Staples Center in Los Angeles."

... Because we truly love him!!!

Impossible.

The total global internet audience is 1 billion. Typical of a technical illiterate's reportage to swallow such a nonsensical number as "500 million hits". Very unprofessional.

I wonder if we'll be seeing the tickets or wristbands on eBay and Craigs list?

...MJ

i love you MJ!

Are these hits or registrants? Another story is reporting only 500,000 people registered to get the tickets; I can't imagine only half a million registering when half a billion hit the website.

i loved michael jackson his music was just pure geneuis and his music will live on forever my mum loves him my brothers love him an my son of 5 and daughter of 3 love him and im sure as i get older my grandchildren will love him as i said pure geneuis in everything he ever did

My deepest sympathy to family. for Hi was the King of pop Hi will never be forgotten.

Its a real same when Michael was here people didn't value him. People thought of way's to cheat him out of his money by accusing him of child molesting and putting up fake cases. He loved and care about children and tired to live his child hood through them. I wish I had a friend like him in my life. Even though he was filthy rich, he was also very simple & innocent & didn't really deserve this horrible world we live in, so god found him a better place. He is finally out of his misery and in peace. R.I.P Micheal we love you and you will never be forgotten.

He was the back ground music to my childhood...thankyou Michael Jackson, thankyou.

I'm the son of Bobbie Smith, (The Spinners) and would like to express my deepest regrets. Michael lives on through his music and will be deeply appreciated through the years to come and forever. He is in a place that we all live to look forward to and I'm so glad that I was a witness to all of his success. Much love to all the Jackson family and I will never forget the story my dad told me of helping the Jacksons' when the vehicle broke down coming to Detroit for the legendary audition. I look forward to more from the family if that is the desire.

Much Love,

Richard A. White Sr.
