Man shot and killed during Boyle Heights party

Investigators were seeking a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man early today during a party in Boyle Heights, police said.

The victim, whose identity was not immediately available, was shot once in the head about 1:30 a.m. at a home in the 400 block of Estudillo Avenue, near 4th and Lorena streets, said Officer Sara Faden, a Los Angeles police spokeswoman.

The man, who was in his 20s, was taken to a hospital, where he died, Faden said.

The suspect was described as a male Latino. It was unknown whether the shooting was gang-related, Faden said. “Every angle is being looked at,” she said

I knew the victum very well, he was my employee. This guy was not into any gangs. He was a nice guy who worked as a security supervisor. He was a super nice guy who would never hurt anyone. his name was petey xiochipa " big petey" he was a member of the Roosevelt hight school football team in 2005. he was a big guy with a good heart. " i just seen him at a dj quik concert in hollywood a few weeks ago and had a chance to play basketball with him last week at Roosevelt. we used to take trips and hang out every chance we got. Petey will be missed tremendously by his boys , family and friends." we got the phone call around 2am from a friend saying Petey had been shot in the head and that he was gone. 4th of july will never be the same again , but you will always be in are hearts and we will never forget you. rest in peace Petey.

Peter was a great kid, he was not a gang member but I believe the idiot that took his life is. Everyone that knew him is shocked by this tragedy, his parents are now in so much pain because their son is now gone, he left behind a little brother that looked up to him and a little sister as well. Seriously, does anyone put any thought into why violence like this even takes place? Just read the comments left by individuals who claim to have a relation to the victim and alleged suspect- "what goes around, comes around" and "he caused the problem", "was looking for a fight" These are the types of aytitudes that perpetuate the cycle of violence that is killing our youth and enslaves our neighborhoods. To the family of the victim, I am sorry for your loss. To the family of the alleged suspect we live in a country where you are innocent until proven guilty, though it's upseting to have accusations posted, please find solace in that. It unfortuanate that 2 families will in the end loose the life a a young loved one to a stupid crime. We will all miss Pete. He was a great nephew and cousin who we all admired and we will all miss dearly. Of anyone in our lives he was the very last one that I would have expected to pass away. Pete was the living embodiment of the word invincible to us. We watched him get bigger from year to year until he was a giant both physically and as a role model to his nieces nephews and cousins. His cousin played football because Pete would give him tips and encouragement whenever we talked to him and I would always brag to my friends and my sons coaches about my nephew the giant who played for the Roosevelt roughriders and was ranked one of the top 100 football players in the state of California. We always looked foward to see the entire Xochipa family whenever we came to LA to visit but I loved to see Pete, his brother and his cousin because they were the three that I bonded with when I was first introduced to the family.
Although The funeral services were somber it was uplifting to see the huge number of lives that Peter had touched including ours. There will be a missing piece in our family now but one day we will all be together again until then we will have a huge guardian angel to watch over us.

It is disgusting how people claim Petey had fault. It is common for two guys to fight or get into an argument BUT it is not normal for someone to pull a gun out and take the life of someone because of impulse.
