No ticket to Jackson memorial? Then keep out of the area, LAPD says
The Los Angeles Police Department is urging people who aren't attending Tuesday's Michael Jackson memorial service to stay away from the Staples Center area in downtown Los Angeles.
Roads in the immediate area of the Staples Center and the Nokia Theatre already are closed to vehicles and non-ticket holders, according to LAPD Officer Tenesha Dobine.
On the east side, Flower Street is closed. On the south side, Pico Boulevard is closed. Blaine Street is closed to the west and Olympic Boulevard to the north.
The roads will remain closed indefinitely, Dobine said.
According to the California Department of Transportation, some freeway ramps will be closed due to the memorial service. The specific ramps have not been finalized yet. More information to come soon.

And what pray tell are we the residents supposed to do when the LAPD arbitrarily takes over public street and bars us residents from returning home?? What crime did we commit to be unlawfully detained in such a way?? I'll tell you what, we have the audacity to live on the corner of Pico and Figueroa and NOT give a crap about Michael Jackson's farce of a memorial.
Just like the L.A. Laker fan debacle after they won the championship, the LAPD will once again force residents of city lights on Fig to "fend for themselves, and "go someplace else" I've got an idea!! How bout you protect us citizens from the inconvenience of a group of fans?? How bout the people that live in these areas be given a bit of respect and the opportunity to NOT partake in the circus??

Why can't these people do their memorial on a weekend?! When my father died, my sisters and I made it a point to hold his funeral on a Saturday so that our friends won't be inconvenienced. And now these Jacksons, chose a weekday not only inconveniencing their friends but also total strangers like me!

Yeah, your right the city is broke, hey but why not spend 2 mill on police for this event and take it away from where it is really needed, I don't know education or street repair...any ideas?? All respect for Michael, may he rest in peace. But we should not be paying for this.. By the way I work hard too! And I live in the surrounding area, thankfully it's almost over. And we can all move on.

It's as simple as moving! Go live in the country where you can go and gripe and noone can hear you. Get over yourselves, You don't own the city because you live in a building near the Staples Center! If you're bothered by crowds and people MOVE! Nothing better to do but bitch!!!!
