Police looking for gunman near Glendale Galleria

Police are searching for a gunman who shot and killed a man sitting inside his sport-utility vehicle in a parking lot across the street from the Glendale Galleria.

The shooting was reported shortly after 11 a.m. in the 300 block of Colorado Street, said Sgt. Tom Lorenz of the Glendale Police Department. (An earlier version of this post incorrectly had Lorenz's first name as Thomas.)

“Our officers responded within a minute of the shooting,” Lorenz said. “When officers arrived, they discovered a middle-aged male adult in a black SUV. He had been shot multiple times.”

Police said the shooting occurred in the back parking lot of a small business strip. Lorenz said the gunman walked up to the SUV and fired several shots through the driver's side window.

Police said they had only a vague description of the suspect. A motive was under investigation.

“It doesn’t appeared random, but we’re unsure if it’s business or domestic related,” Lorenz said.
