West Hollywood could get a second dog park

July 14, 2009 |  8:00 pm

Dog-friendly West Hollywood may soon get a second dog park. The city's public facilities commission has recommended to the City Council that a fenced-in off-leash dog park be built in Plummer Park.

Read more about the proposed dog park in the WeHo News:

The second park is a welcome addition to residents of this dog-crazy town, since the only other off leash dog park in the city is at Hart Park, at 8341 De Longpre Ave. (just steps below the Sunset Strip between Sunset Tower and Standard Hotels).

Eastsiders say they cannot walk their pooch so far (it stands between .6 – 1.4 miles from East of Fairfax), nor can they use nearby LA City parks in Runyon Canyon or at Mulholland Drive and Laurel Canyon without a car.

What's going on there? There is a dog park a block away at the Poinsettia Park. Why in the world does the city need another one at Plummer?

Poinsettia Park is not an official DOG park. Dog owners need to obey the law and keep dogs on leashes. Poinsettia park is uninviting to people like myself and my family in attending because of the smell of urine and the dogs running around that could attack one of my children.
