Beverly Hills to host 'public art party' Saturday

July 9, 2009 |  6:57 pm

Beverly Hills will be the venue Saturday for a self-guided "public art party" to celebrate Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, whose colorful sculpture, "Hymn to Life: Tulips,"  is at Rodeo Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard.

The tour, produced by ForYourArt, will include the Paley Center for Media, where three of Kusama's short films will be screened, and continues at Gagosian Gallery, where the artist is having a solo exhibition.

Visitors will be able to have their faces painted with Kusama-styled polka dots and have digital portraits taken and posted online at the event website. The event will run from noon to 6 p.m.
