Barbershop shootout kills one in Compton

One of three armed robbers was killed during a barbershop gunfight Friday in Compton.

Three men attempted to rob a barbershop in the 2700 block of North Wilmington Avenue about 1 p.m. Friday but were met by two armed barbers, said Deputy Guillermina Saldana with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

During a gunfight between the three men and the two barbers, one of the robbers was shot and the other two left the scene on foot.

Detectives believe one of the fleeing suspects may have been shot, because there was a trail of blood at the scene.

The name of the man who was killed has not been released. The incident is still under investigation, Saldana said.

Regrettable that people working in a barbershop feel the need to protect themselves, but thank goodness they did. The only thing better would have been if the incident had yielded three dead robbers...oh, I mean "suspects"...

Well, the title of the article could have been a little less disingenuous (not surprising from the LA Times, though) and mentioned the fact that the "shoot-out" was from victims defending themselves and their business, and resulting in a deceased attacker.

GOOD JOB BARBERS!

Congratulations to the intrepid barbers.

Right on for the Barbers!!
Gun Rights work Obama, those law saved these Barbers

Seriously, having grown up in the Crenshaw/Inglewood area even a white boy like me knows that trying to jack a black barber shop in Compton is a seriously brain dead proposition. There is a stand up routine in this tragic news if not a whole movie script...

Good work a couple bucks worth of ammo saved the tax payers a bundle and potential victims from attacks

You all are saying good job to the barbers how sick is this. No amount of money is worth someones life. What nobody knows is the barber shot the man and wemt outside and said," I just had to pop this nigga for trying to rob me", and then went back into the shop and shot the guy two more times when he could have called the police. So I ask what is this world coming to. Remember he was someones brother, son, cousin, friend and loved one.
