When it comes to L.A. and Barack Obama, the honeymoon continues.
Candidate Obama won overwhelmingly in Los Angeles back in November. Now, five months into his presidency, how's he doing?
A new Los Angeles Times Poll shows his popularity remains extremely high in the city. By a 72%-17% margin, voters in Los Angeles approve of the job Obama is doing as president.
The approval cuts across racial and ethnic lines. Obama gets approval from 88% of African American voters but also from 69% of whites and 69% of Latinos.
The Times Poll of 1,500 registered voters was conducted by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research in conjunction with Public Opinion Strategies, both polling firms based in Washington, D.C. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.6 percentage points. The poll was conducted June 10-16.

Check Sunday's Los Angeles Times for full results of the new Times Poll on topics including Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's political future, the city's budget deficit and a look ahead at next year's race for governor. There will be additional poll results on the public's view of the Los Angeles Police Department and more. Poll data will also be broadcast on KTLA News.

And yet another reason to leave California. The liberal lunatics are clearly taking over the asylum.

No surprise here. Obama is a consumnate professional who is well on the way to leading this country to the greatest turnaround in modern history.
We finally have a man leading the country that we can be proud of!

Well they didn't ask this Latino's opinion. I wouldn't have been so complementary.
Like many opinion polls, the design seeks to obtain the desired result in advance.
I think most intellegent folks acknowledge this.
If your story was really balanced, you would publish the actual poll parameters and demographics. Otherwise you leave yourselves open to criticism.
I think that you will find nationwide polls that would differ with the poll's results.

The 17% must be racists.

Yes Obama the man is popular but what about his policies? Then again I suppose that does not matter since many Americans' now vote based on popularity anyway.

John Gallegos, you are so right. I've never heard of anyone I know getting polled. It's so blatantly obvious the writer is an Obama fan, knows very well Obamas ratings are dropping drastically, but wants to keep the love affair going.
LAtimes has been an Obama promotional media from day one, why expect anything different now.
For people like Blue parrot, you are delusional and I'm guessing you are one of those people who will never admit you were wrong no matter how messed up this country will get under Obama.

Oh, Republicans....How can you still be so dumb?
Fear and hatred is no way to vote, behave, or live.
Get out of the 50's and realize the world HAS already moved on from your lack of imagination and compassion.
Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and the rest of the Neo-Cons should be brought up on treason.
California might be broken, but we still have the will and talent to move forward in the "Golden State"
If you don't like it here, I've heard Texas likes your kind.
Thank you Obama for working so diligently and thoughtfully, its a nice change for the smart ones.

Isn't this really about who s Progressive and who is Regressive?
I don't think Liberal and Conservative are accurate terms.

This isn't American Idol. This isn't the High School prom. Picking the "popular" kid is what has gotten us into the current mess.
Our federal budget deficit is now FOUR TIMES as large as when Bush was in office. Obama has spent more money in his first year in office than all the US Presidents in history have ever spent COMBINED. The economy is dropping faster than ever before. Unemployment is rising faster than ever before.
Being "popular" won't cut it. Sounding good in a speech (as long as a teleprompter is handy) won't cut it. We need someone who can actually do the job, and Obama is showing that he obviously can't.

Obama isn't popular in my household. EVER! He can't fool me one bit!

Being a Hispanic male who has come to terms with the real effects of the immigration issue, feel certain that the efforts to turn the corner on some of the old policies that I think hurt most Americans for the benefit of a few is commendable and worthy of two thumbs up. I hate playing identity politics, so forgive me. I had to make mention of my heritage because I think its important to note that not all Hispanics feel the same way, and in my book had I been polled my vote would have been favorable.
