Michael Jackson: Fans gather outside pop singer's home [Updated]

About a dozen reporters and photographers were gathered outside Michael Jackson’s rented Bel-Air home this afternoon as a news helicopter hovered above. Several tourist vans also stopped by the house just off Sunset Boulevard as tourists snapped photos of the large, black wrought-iron gates adorned with two large wreaths decorated with red ribbons.

Tourist Sue Mossell, 46, and her two sons, Ryan, 7, and Jimmy, 12, who were visiting from Georgia, were among those milling outside the house, which was blocked from view by trees and shrubbery. Mossell said the family was on a star tour the day before that included the Jackson house and decided to drive back this afternoon after hearing the news.

“I was in shock,” she said. “I mean, who hasn’t heard of Michael Jackson? I think we’re going to hear a lot more of his songs.”

Another tourist, Angelina Winkvist, 28, who was visiting from Sweden, said she also took a tour a day earlier that stopped by the Jackson house and rushed back today after hearing that Jackson had been taken to the hospital.

“It’s huge,” Winkvist said of Jackson’s death. “He’s one of the biggest stars in the world.”

A neighbor, Roxana Radnia, 21, said she had no idea the pop star was living at the house. She said she always saw cars parked out front and had worried about possible drug activity. Radnia said she was walking her dog, Maddie, about 1 p.m. today and saw three ambulances outside the house and a lot of commotion.

“I didn’t know what was going on,” she said. She said she was a big fan of Jackson and his music and had been looking forward to his comeback tour.

“He’s amazing,” she said. “I can’t believe this happened.”

[Updated at 4:35 p.m.: Karina LeBlanc, 29, a member of the Los Angeles soccer team Sol, who lives a block from Jackson’s Bel-Air house, said she drives by every day on her way to practice.

She said she saw Jackson once as he and his entourage were arriving at the house. LeBlanc said she heard helicopters hovering above the neighborhood this afternoon and turned on her TV to find out what was going on.

She said she was deeply saddened by the news. She said her soccer team always listened to his music before a game, particularly the song “Man in the Mirror.”

“He’s got the beat,” she said. “His music is so riveting and inspiring.”

She said the news was especially distressing because Jackson had gone through such a tough time in recent years. Still, it was hard to believe that he was dead, she said.]

Whats going to happen to his children? No One is talking about the children.

I'm lost for words. Michael J. was the greatest!! I grew up with him...remembering the Jackson 5 cartoon...the Motown performances...me sitting in front of our floor model color tv watching him. Michael, I know you're considered the King of Pop, but you made a grand contribution to R&B, soul music. You will always be remembered as one of the greatest soul singer of all times. We love you and truly miss you!!

Whats going to happen to the Children. Do they know there Father has Passed

My heart is broken. :( It is too sad to imagine. It feels like a nightmare! Michael you have inspired so many. you will never be forgotten!

I just remembered his record "Ben". I'm just 4 years older, but I grew up with his music. Unforgetable is his album "Thriller". An album that will never be a match to another! My daughters love his music, even from his later albums. I'm proud to have known this artist as one of the worlds greatest. (just someone from Holland)

I am a big fan, I am so sad that the king of pop died. This must be a dream someone wake me up of this horrible nightmare. Michael I love you and i will miss you

I felt bad enough about poor Farah Fawcett, but Jacko had been my idol for years. I can't stop crying. There will NEVER be another talent like him! May they both rest in peace. Michael, I love you.

MICHAEL I GREW UP WITH YOUR MUSIC,I REALLY THINK YOU ARE THE BEST , NOW GOD WANT YOU TO COME WITH HIM, GO, GO MICHAEL HE WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU. IM GOING TO MISS YOU

i remember being 10 and dancing to michael jacksons bad in the street trying to get xtra pocket money. so so sad.

im going to bel air tonight

Well, God has performed another miracle. He's the only one who is capable forever of doing such.J ackson' death is an irrepairable lost, but however, the fact remains that we all shall leave the scene some days. The entire world is at the age of witnessing a different unespected history after everone has hoped to seeing that final and performance of Jackson. I pray that his family takes care of his children.

The world has lost a true original, a transformer. I grew up listening to him. I think that he helped everyone to grow and overcome the color barrier. I mean, would we even have Obama as president if we hadn't had Michael paving the way as the King of Pop? Somehow I doubt it. Rest in peace, Michael.

R.i.P Michael

Sad day for the music world....

I got Brock Lesnar at UFC 100.

Anyone who says he was "twisted" and "sick" or a "child molester" has clearly never done any research, never watched the court proceedings, never read the articles and transcripts from each trial (all of which ended with him being innocent), and have a hard time thinking for themselves.

The true "blind" ones are the haters who follow the trash media like one of the zombies in MJ's Thriller video and believe every word on talk radio.

There is time for everything,a time to sow and a time to reap,a time to live and a time to die....Jackson Your death is so sudden and painful.Eventhough you are no longer with us you will be in our memory.may your soul rest in peace!
