Michael Jackson memorial at Staples Center under consideration

The Jackson family continued this afternoon to plan a memorial service and funeral for Michael Jackson, with one source telling The Times that one plan involves a ceremony at Staples Center.

Under this scenario, which the source said is still very much in the planning stages, a public ceremony at Staples Center would be followed by a procession to Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara County. The source said that once there, friends, family and members of the music industry would participate in a memorial service on the grounds.

Sources in local law enforcement said they have not heard about a memorial in Los Angeles.

Lt. Butch Arnoldi of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department said the agency has not been approached by any members of the Jackson family about a memorial at Neverland.

Who is going to pay for security? Remember, L.A. is in a financial crisis right now.

112 lbs of skin & bones, bald, nothing in his stomach but pills, puncture wounds in his body, bruises, scars...he was a walking dead man who was ready to lie down. He knew he could never do 50 shows and had no intention to, he also knew his time was up. Goodbye Michael. Ultimate fame before you were ready, destroyed you...and like your youth, it took flight. Reacting like a spinning dervish, you tried, and like many before you, realized too late you could never go back. Marilyn, Elvis, and Michael.....

Guess you forget about all those millions in taxes and revenues that Mike brought to California since that's where he resided?

I feel very sorry for the loss of Michael Jackson, he was my idle and i loved his music. I hope though that this thing with StaplesCenter goes through cause i really wanna go in remembrance of him. It would be nice. My heart and regard's go out to the Jackson Family

I would dearly love to attend a tribute. I am glad there is less talk about a public viewing at Neverland, traffic would be a nightmare.
however, I am concerned that I keep hearing something about "tickets". I know there is a lot of money to be made from him, but i sincerely hope arena owners or the family do not plan to sell tickets for this. A tribute of this magnitude would be like the public being able to attend his memorial or funeral, and that is not something you should sell tickets to. No doubt the arena would not be free, but between the family and the arena owners it is not something that should be sold to the public. There will be lots of money later for everyone to make off MJ, may he finally rest in peace.

I FEEL LIKE IT'S A SHAME IT TOOK THIS WONDERFUL, AMAZON MAN TO DIE FOR EVERY ONE TO REMEMBER ALL DA GREAT MUSIC HE PUT OUT. EVERY ONE WANT TO RUN OUT AND BUY HIS MUSIC NOW IF THEY WAS REAL FANS THEY WOULD OF BEEN HAD HIS CD'S, MOVIES, VIDEO'S AND EVERY THING ELSE HE MADE. LET THIS MAN REST IN PEACE. I THINK HE'S IN A BETTER PLACE.

While on a handyman site, http://yourhandymanzone.com, I found an online memorial of Michael Jackson:

An Angle From Above ~Michael Jackson~

Michael Jackson, One of God’s Angles.
He had a unique talent that could not be described,
but witnessed by the world!
He danced his heart to make a difference !
He sang his songs to send a message!
To unite the world to come together!
He reached out to the sick and the less fortunate!
He helped the sick children around the world and help them relive their dreams!
He inspired the world and put joy in everyone‘s heart with his music!
And Lets not forget about the Moon Walk!
He had compassion for humanitarian,
love for the world, and dreams to share!
He knew he was difference, but did not wanted to be judged!
All he wanted was to make a difference and to be loved and set free!
He never wanted to be center of attention!
He was an Angle sent from above!
God watched upon him from heaven
And sent his Angles to come and take him home to heaven!
He knew that day would come, but did not know when?
The Angles came from heaven and took him from his sleep!
The Angles held his hands and walked him around the world, to see how much he was loved and will be missed around the world!!!!!!!!!!!!
