Lakers celebration gets out of control on streets of East L.A.

June 12, 2009 |  9:37 am

A group of Lakers fans took their excitement to the streets Thursday night and began rocking vehicles as they tried to pass through an intersection in East Los Angeles. Two people were arrested before the crowd broke up.

The group comprised of mostly area residents gathered at Whittier and Atlantic boulevards after the Lakers' 99-91 victory over the Orlando Magic in Orlando, a sheriff's sergeant at the East Los Angeles station said. Video showed a large group of people rocking a sport utility vehicle that had stopped at the intersection as well as several other vehicles passing through.

Typical for that area, it's mostly illegals. It's a shame they can't conduct themselves like mature adults!!

Too stupid to realize we're up 3-1 and haven't won the title yet? These losers need to find more constructive things in their lives other than acting like thugs.

Tory,

What does their status as undocumented immigrants have to do with their excitement over the Lakers' win?
I'm sure if the same thing happened among Red Sox fans in Boston (because, um, mostly white people live there? *sarcasm* Do you see how base and presumptuous that sounds?) you wouldn't say such a thing. Shame on you!

way to make us all look bad. what a bunch of idiots.

You guys don't understand how nerve wrenching that three point shot from Fisher was. The game was almost a certain loss for the Lakers, but his skill gave hope. Regardless of ethnicity, these are true fans and I don't mind hearing about a few people who love their team. If anything, we need more team spirit in this whispering, fake city.

Tory,

You need help understanding our world. It is really sad some people think the way you do. Please get some therapy. These people were most likely teenagers and U.S. citizens. Their behavior is terribly, but things like these (sometimes worse) happen all over the country and acted by all kinds of people. Just recently, we heard about the old white supremacist who killed a guard at the museum of tolerance--another sicko like you. But their status does not give you any right to prejudge and, as a matter of fact, most undocumented persons are some of the humblest, respectful, hard-working, and intelligent human beings there could be in this planet because they understand what suffering is. Unlike you, who does not understand anything. So, please, I beg you to get some help so that they can cure your brain and help it make it think logically and intelligently.

HEY! I would go wild too after seeing that amazing buzzer beater shot by Derek Fisher, with no fear! watch it@ http://bit.ly/trendz I couldnt stop watching it, amazing! Go Lakers 09

humans aren't illegal.

hardly call that a mini riot.

White British football/soccer fans act the same way, it has nothing to do with Latino culture or immigration status but reflects more on how sports fans from any country and any culture can overreact

First of all immigration status has nothing to do with how people react when their favorite team wins. That is how stupid white people act when football season begins. We do not judge you on how you react to something. What shows your ignorance is in the stupid comments you write.

Shows the mentality of this human trash. Setting fires to celebrate a basketball game victory? Have the police beat these rabid freaks to a pulp.
