$30,000 diamond ring found at Fullerton playground

Police are searching for the owner of an 8.5-carat diamond ring that was found on a school playground in Fullerton.

The sparkler, which was appraised by a jeweler at $30,000, was discovered in April, according to Fullerton Police Sgt. Mike MacDonald. The ring is currently in a commercial-size safe in the police department's property room. The ring has one major identifying mark that only the owner would know, according to property room technician April Baughman. Police did not identify the school.
