Two people fatally shot in Vernon

Vernon police have arrested a man suspected of fatally shooting two people this morning at a local lumber yard, where the alleged gunman and the victims worked.

The suspect, who was not immediately identified, fled after the shooting about 9:40 a.m. at the Bohnhoff Lumber Company in the 3400 block of East 26th Street.

He was arrested after leading police on a brief car chase through Vernon and Huntington Park that came to an end when the suspect crashed into an unknown object.

Sources familiar with the case said the shooter and the victims were lumber yard employees. The victims were shot in offices at the location, although the motive was not immediately clear.

I have purchased Lumber from them for years. I am so sad for the loss. All our love and thoughts are with the family.

I KNOW THIS FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS AND WE ARE DEEPLY SAD FOR THEIR LOST, AND MORE SAD THAT TRAGEDIES LIKE THESE HAPPENED BECAUSE WE DON'T PRAY ENOUGH, OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHIES FOR THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
