State workers gather in downtown L.A. for budget protest

May 22, 2009 | 10:51 am

A couple of hundred people have gathered outside Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's office in downtown L.A. this morning to prepare for a rally to protest proposed budget cuts.

The rally is being organized by state-funded home care workers, who have invited other state employees, their families and supporters to participate in a rally intended to "shut down Spring Street." The state office building is at 300 S. Spring St.

"The rally is intended to send a clear message to legislators that cuts to home care must be stopped," organizers said in a statement.
