Two killed in Leimart Park crash [Updated]

[Updated at 5 p.m.:Los Angeles County coroner’s officials have identified the victims as as Steven Elvis Miralda, 33, and Beverlee Illona Everett, 35, both of Los Angeles.]

A man and woman were killed early this morning in Leimert Park when their car crashed into a tree, authorities said.

The man was driving near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Sutro Avenue about 3 a.m. when he lost control of the car, said Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department. It appeared he was driving too fast, she said.

The man and his passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. No other details were immediately available.
