Hard Rock Cafe coming to Hollywood and Highland area

May 26, 2009 |  1:38 pm

The Hard Rock Cafe is coming next year to Hollywood, where it will open in a prominent spot at the intersection of  Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue, the company said Tuesday.

The restaurant chain famous for its music memorabilia collection will set up shop between the Kodak Theatre and Mann Grauman's Chinese Theatre in a space, at 6801 Hollywood Blvd., to be vacated by a Virgin Megastore. The 20,000-square-foot Hard Rock Cafe Los Angeles will include a 500-seat restaurant, a live concert area and a shop selling Hard Rock merchandise and rock ā€˜n’ roll memorabilia from the company's collection.

Isn't there already a "Hollywood" Hard Rock Cafe at Universal Studios, like 5 miles away?

more like 2 miles away, or one stop on the red line, but it serves a completely different crowd. great location for Hard Rock, just wish something would lease up the Corner spot of the historic building across the street that has been vacant for 20 years.

Do you really think it is for a "completely different crowd"? As you said, these 2 Hard Rock Cafe's will be a simple train ride from one another (a single STOP, talk about rare in LA, and if you want to get picky, it is closer to 4 miles away.) I'm pretty sure a lot of the people that visit Hollywood and Highland also visit Universal Studios as tourists. If people are next to Hollywood and Highland, there is very little stopping them from currently jumping on the train and visit the one at Universal Studios.

Honestly, as a resident of LA living within walking distance of one of these Hard Rock Cafes and within walking distance of the Red Line, I avoid both Universal City and Hollywood and Highland like the plague and this new development won't encourage me to visit the new location. To me, it's a waste and confusing. I guess we have everything else we could possibly need in this world, so the Hard Rock Cafe is the most logical thing to add.
