President Obama arrived in Los Angeles this afternoon for an evening fundraiser at the Beverly Hilton hotel. Advocates of gay marriage plan to picket in front of the hotel.
Obama will be attending the Democratic National Committee event, at which Jennifer Hudson is scheduled to perform.
The protest comes a day after the California Supreme Court upheld Proposition 8, the ban on gay marriage. Obama has said he believes marriage should be between a man and a woman.

Yesterday's decision of the California Supreme Court followed the footsteps of "separate but equal," the segregation law established the US Supreme Court in Plessy v. Ferguson. 163 US 537 (1896). Seems that Barack Obama agrees with that decision so long as it does not affect him personally.

This post doesn't make it clear why they are protesting Obama (that is, his silence on Prop 8, and his negligence of gay issues in general).

With all respect to the protesters, why picket the President? Your complaint is with the voters of California, the supreme court of California and allegedly, the LDS church for funding the pro-8 campaign. The bizarrely titled "defense of marriage" act basically locked this issue in as a "states" issue years ago.
You need to organize, convince the populace of California and fight for a political victory at the state level. Alienating the powerful at the national level certainly won't help anything and could hurt the chance of a win (e.g. ballot in 2010).

Protest is an incorrect characterization of the planned Rally. President Obama enjoyed wide, nearly unanimous support from the gay community during the 2008 election. Our support, in large part, was so earnest because of his direct promises to repeal DOMA and end "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" - two of the most egregiously discriminatory federal policies. If he cares to retain our support, both personal and financial, he MUST follow through on his campaign promises.

And the gay community wonders why the majority of California votes AGAINST them!? How dare they picket where the President is visiting. Why is this alllowed? They have no shame, goes with their lack of morals and lack of respect!!

Hopefully the protest will be win-win. This is very important to our LIFE. Not all Gays are represented by a man dressed as a Nun wearing makeup, as was captured by the New York Times, and plastered through out the internet. We don't want to alienate those supporters who are "on the line" by making a mockery of their religion! God created Gays too. We can be just as blessed as anyone else. Let's keep it civil to create "Civil Rights"!

This is sooooo comical. I thought Obama was the homosexual community main squeeze? Is the honeymoon over already?

Obama hates gays.
We all know that.
Gays should have voted for Hillary.
