Another bear caught in Southland neighborhood

May 6, 2009 |  1:54 pm

For the second time today, a bear was caught running around in a residential neighborhood in the Southland, police said.

The animal was spotted late this morning moving between residents’ yards in La Verne, said Sgt. Monica Schusse of the local police department.

Wardens from the California Department of Fish and Game cornered the bear at Los Encinos Park and tranquilized it, she said. The bear was then transported to a wilderness area and released.

Earlier this morning, a 300-pound bear wandered into an apartment complex in Camarillo, where it too was tranquilized and removed, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
