Villaraigosa to appear at town hall in West L.A.

April 4, 2009 |  2:55 pm

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will speak about budget cuts and other money matters Monday night at a town hall meeting in West Los Angeles.

The event is sponsored by the Westside Regional Alliance of Councils, a group of 11 Westside neighborhood and community councils. The meeting will be from 6 to 7:15 p.m. at the Felicia Mahood Center, 11338 Santa Monica Blvd.

Questions will focus on the mayor's priorities as his administration prepares the new city budget in trying economic times.

"We understand that cuts to city services are inevitable as revenues shrink," said Mike Newhouse, the meeting facilitator and president of the Venice Neighborhood Council. "Our stakeholders are concerned about the issues that affect us on the Westside, such as public safety, traffic, housing and homelessness, and we want to make sure that these issues are addressed."
