Lingerie bandit? Police say suspect was wearing his loot

The only thing a robber allegedly stole from a woman’s Pasadena bedroom this weekend was found beneath his clothes, police said.

Luis Javier Fernandez-Garcia, 30, was wearing a pair of lingerie after he fled an apartment on Garfield Avenue at 1:40 a.m. Saturday, said Lt. Chris Russ of the Pasadena Police Department.

Russ said the 22-year-old woman and a male companion of about the same age returned to her second-floor apartment and found Fernandez-Garcia in her bedroom. Fernandez-Garcia fled, and the man chased him, catching the suspect a short distance away and holding him for police, Russ said.

"After he was arrested, officers found that he was wearing the victim’s lingerie underneath his clothing," Russ said, adding that nothing else was taken from the woman’s apartment. "This is not your normal type of burglary," he said.

Fernandez-Garcia was held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
