Jenny Kim, 15, participates in a moment of silence during a candlelight vigil Wednesday when about 50 to 100 residents and community leaders gathered in Koreatown to commemorate the 17th anniversary of the Los Angeles riots. This year’s theme focused on teaching their history to Korean American youth, many of whom were born after the riots, during which tensions between the city’s black and Korean communities exploded."

I remember the night in March when KTLA first broadcast the Rodney King beating on the 10 o'clock news. I was at work when the verdict came down and when I got home cut on the tv and headed over to KTLA where the riots were just getting underway. Saw Denny get pulled out of his truck and beaten. I used to work in Korea Town and saw some buildings I knew on fire. Next day smiling looters happy as on Christmas Day. The news centered on black looters but there were just as many other races taking part by a wide, wide margin. Martial Law declared with military humvess everwhere and my car dying on me in Venice right at curfew. Uh-oh !!
