Driver killed in Pacoima freeway accident

April 7, 2009 | 12:18 pm

A motorist was killed early this morning in Pacoima after he lost control of his pickup truck on the 210 Freeway, causing the vehicle to flip over and roll down an embankment, authorities said.

The 43-year-old Mission Hills man, whose identity was not immediately released, was driving eastbound on the freeway at about 1:45 a.m. when the accident occurred, according to the California Highway Patrol.

After the truck rolled over, it went “down the descending dirt embankment, through a security fence and onto Foothill Boulevard,” where it came to rest on its roof just west of Paxton Street, the CHP said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
