Malibu to activate key traffic signal on PCH

April 20, 2009 |  7:20 pm

After years of design and budget challenges, a long-awaited traffic signal at Corral Canyon Road and Pacific Coast Highway is ready to go, and the city of Malibu plans to activate it by Thursday.

The Malibu City Council deemed the signal its No. 1 priority when it approved the PCH Turn Improvement Feasibility Study in Sept. 2004. In 2008, after many challenges relating to the site design and permitting, contract negotiations and state budget crises, the city stepped up to provide funding to get the project started.

"This has been a long time coming, and I'm really proud of how our staff and Caltrans worked together to overcome the challenges until the job was done," said Malibu Mayor Andy Stern.
