School shootings, graffiti and gang bangers. That's so LA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the mayor said LA is safe? because there are two less shootings today then there were yesterday, does not make it safer....

Stop wasting the city budget on programs for people that should not be here, and start funding our local police, after school programs, and our educational system.

Mario,Steve
Instead of sniveling about the problem get into the solution...

Sorry.... Left LA as soon as you guys put that moron in the Mayor seat.... Bad city.. Bad Schools... Bad decisions on Mayor.. What a waist.... La La Land could have been the best... WOW...

Hey Mr. G, I guarantee you that the solution for LA is not corrupt and incompetent govt. leadership!!!!

Umm excuse me but I attendend Locke high school for the last 5 yrs because it WAS a bad school wich I didn't graduate an decided to be part of greendot wich have made a huge change alot of student are on task of graduating even I am and about the shooting when I saw Richard the boy that got shot I seen him stable sitting down but seem ok the news have made Locke high look like is a bad school not for the first time but lots of times I been staying there for my last 18 yrs Locke has change!! Therefore don't say what u don't know from the real Locke! Why caint we come out on the NEWS all the time we have good things always making us look bad. -go Saints!

I live in Los Angeles, I attended Locke, and I am an employee of the Los Angeles Unified School District. I blame that careless mayor for incidents like this. How does a 17 year old have access to a gun.

L.A. is not the problem, it's the idiot you people call the mayor that is the problem. He is a moron.

He is not apart of the solution. He is apart of the problem!

Get that loser out of office. I hate him!!!

First off, this shooting took place outside the walls and halls of Locke so to "blame" Locke is an inaccurate and unwarranted assertion. Locke has made drastic improvements inside the school, but the question is, is Locke the cause for the demise of the neighborhood, or is a symptom? People with simplistic assertions make false claims about schools being this or that without ever stepping into one school as difficult at Locke. It's easy to thow stones....

So rather than say "typical South (CENTRAL) LA" try thinking of what would you do if YOUR children went to a school that looked like Locke, muchless had the same problems. Instead of leaving LA, why not immerse yourself in making positive changes happen. Rather than complain about the mayor and his attempts to make LA safer, why don't you form neighborhood watch and safe passage programs in areas of need?

Oh, I know why...because, again, it's easier to throw stones...

PS - thanks for your input annon student. We need to hear more student voices! Go Saints.

LEARN HOW TO SPELL!! JUST MADE YOUR SCHOOL LOOK EVEN MORE RETARDED.... THAT'S SAD...

KIDS STAY IN SCHOOL.

Ummm...Ms. Brittany, that's called misplaced blame. You're going to blame the mayor, who has only been in office for x number of years for a problem that existed far before he was elected and will still exist far after he becomes governor/senator...(ya gotta love term limits, but...).

The mayor isn't the problem, part of the problem is Beaudry burreaucrats who think all we need is a band-aid for this hemoraging, critically ill school system. But I won't cast the blame solely on LAUSD, education in America is in crisis, LAUSD, and schools like Locke when it was a part of the district, are asymptomatic of the problems. Let's see what the new changes, once given time to take root, create at Locke and in the bigger neighborhood/community.

I am a Locke graduate and i just want ppl to know that Locke isnt as bad as you make it seem. Every school has problems and every school has lazy teachers as well as students, but its seems like just because Locke is in Watts everyone says Locke is a "BAD" school. I had very good teachers and I learned alot....So get off that "ALL BAD KIDS COME FROM LOCKE" TRAIN AND LET THEM BREATH! CLASS OF 2006 WAS AND STILL IS THE BEST!!!!!

Anyone out there think that locke high should have dormitories since the shooting happened cant more happen i mean with dormitories in the school kids can actually not have to worry about gang related shootings of students of locke high.... if you are interested in doing an opinion section on this please contact me at my email address Billandrews@yahoo.com thank you.!!
