Chula Vista police probe bronze pig-napping

April 16, 2009 |  5:41 pm

Police in the San Diego suburb of Chula Vista are asking for the public's help in finding the thieves who stole a bronze statue of a pig outside Miguel's restaurant on East Lake Parkway.

The suspects are described only as two adult males: one wearing a T-shirt with the words "This Shirt Is Illegal" and the other wearing a baseball cap and hooded sweatshirt. They were seen on a security camera to be driving a pickup truck, possibly with chrome rims, police said.

The pig is described as 3 feet tall and valued at $15,000. The heist occurred about 5:30 a.m. April 5.

A $1,000 reward is being offered by San Diego County Crime Stoppers for information leading to an arrest and a return of the pig. Miguel's is offering a carne asada dinner. The tip line is (888) 580-TIPS.
