Two weapons stolen from Montebello police cruiser after apparent joy ride

March 8, 2009 | 10:54 am

Montebello police spent more than an hour today trying to find a police cruiser after someone apparently took it for a joy ride and stole two weapons inside before ditching the vehicle.

Lt. Brad Keller said the cruiser was stolen shortly after 3 a.m., when officers were dispatched to a party in the 600 block of Forbes Avenue. Keller said he was unsure how the cruiser was stolen but said the incident was "under investigation."

West Covina police found the vehicle about an hour later on North Ballista Avenue in La Puente. Keller said two weapons inside the vehicle -- an AR-15 assault rifle and an 870 Remington shotgun -- were missing.

your supposed to take the keys out of the car ya doorknob

An AR-15 is a semi-automatic rifle. Its not really an assault rifle.

AR-15s?

I was told by the gun control groups that "assault weapons" are worthless for self-defense, designed to kill large numbers of people by "spray-fire", designed to be shot from the hip, dangerous to police, are weapons of war and belong on the battlefield, not the streets of an American city.

Why do the police need cop-killing, hip fired, worthless-for-self-defense, spray-fire slaughter machines?

nobody fires a rifle from the hip in a spray-all method except rambo, ya douschenozzle. U-S-A! U-S-A!

Police and Military AR-15s can in fact have, and often do have, full-auto capabilities. "AR-15" is a catch-all term referring to rifles based off of the Eugene Stoner design which was adopted as the American M16. Don't believe me that there are Full Auto AR-15s? Check out this link... http://www.pof-usa.com/lawenforcement/lawenforcement.htm

You were told by Gun Control groups? TOLD? I was told by the tobacco companies that if I smoke, i will be cool and sophisticated.... Diffrence between us brendan, you believe!
AR-15's are semi-automatic rifles, .223 caliber. (very Small) you cant "spray" a semi automatic..... and a .223 is not by any means a slaughter machine. Make pretty precise small holes in flesh from fairly close distances, not the intesting tearing obnoxiously gruesome BAR or a fully automatic .50....

Cheers
