Dominguez Coach Russell Otis charged in sex case
Russell Otis, the coach who built Compton Dominguez High into one of the state’s top boys basketball programs, has been charged by the Los Angeles County district attorney with two criminal counts related to unwanted sexual advances on a young male.
The charges "stem from text messages to a 17-year-old boy," district attorney’s spokeswoman Jane Robison said. Otis, 46, was arrested earlier this month and released on $75,000 bail. He pleaded not guilty to one felony count of meeting a minor "for lewd purposes and one misdemeanor count of child molesting on Friday."
He’s due back in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Compton on March 30 for a pre-preliminary hearing.
