Teenager wounded, arrested after firing at L.A. officers
A 17-year-old boy who shot at Los Angeles Police Department officers near Leimert Park was wounded by return fire, authorities said today. The shooting occurred Sunday about 8 p.m. at a motel parking lot near the corner of St. Andrews Place and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Lt. Darrell Belthius of the LAPD said.
Police say they don't know why the teenager drew a handgun and fired several shots at the officers. He didn't hit anyone, Belthius said. Officers returned fire and wounded the teen in his leg or ankle. He was arrested, and the case is under investigation.
