Boston Celtics player arrested

Boston Celtics basketball player Gabe Pruitt was arrested early today in Hollywood on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, Los Angeles police said.

A traffic officer spotted Pruitt's Mercedes S550 sedan and another car stopped at a green light at Sunset Boulevard and Wilcox Avenue, a few blocks from the LAPD's Hollywood station, about 3 a.m., said Officer Julianne Sohn.

The two drivers were having a conversation, Sohn said.

"The officer did a field sobriety test and determined that Pruitt should be arrested for a DUI," Sohn said.

Pruitt, 22, was booked on a misdemeanor charge, with bail set at $5,000.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's website indicated he was released about 8:30 a.m.

The Celtics played the Clippers at Staples Center on Wednesday night, losing 93-91. Pruitt played five minutes in the game.

A guard for the Celtics, Pruitt played college ball at the University of Southern California.
