What do we call this budget session? How about 'extraordinary'?

January 5, 2009 |  6:27 pm

The Legislature opened another extraordinary session on the budget crisis today. That's the technical term for a special session, and this is the third one in three months. To many in Sacramento, the extraordinary sessions are beginning to feel routine.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger called the latest one after the Legislature did not meet his budget demands during two previous extraordinary sessions.

There is constant talk of a deal to wipe out some of the nearly $42-billion deficit, followed by talk about a deal being nowhere in sight. A cash crisis looms. Lobbyists scurry to protect their turf. And the cycle continues.

How about calling it budgeting for knuckleheads? This has to be the most clueless group of legislators ever to sit in CA and possible the USA.

CA is headed for bankruptcy.

Within the next couple weeks projects across the state will be suspended, throwing thousands out of work because they can't solve the budget TOGETHER...Don't anyone accept the 2/3 requirement as an excuse. They have known about it all along....for years...they don't care about the the people of this state.l

Taxes sucks. But everyone has to pay them. The Dem. has already agreed to cut funding for programs and school but we just can't cut our way out of taxes. Every year the state gains more people than they lose. Its time for the Rep. to realized that increasing taxes is painful yet necessary to keep the state running and help those people that needs helping. We don't want another riot again do we.
