Red-flag warning issued for L.A. County, Ventura

January 17, 2009 |  4:51 am

The National Weather Service has issued a red-flag warning for the mountains and foothills on Saturday. Offshore winds gusting to up to 45 mph, low humidity and higher-than-normal temperatures combined with a high-pressure system are warming and drying the Los Angeles Basin.

The weather service advised residents that northeast winds would continue to produce hazardous driving conditions and an increased fire danger to portions of Los Angeles and Ventura counties. In addition, a moderate west swell will produce high surf and potentially strong rip currents along the beaches of both counties.
