Autopsy conducted on John Travolta's son

2:04 PM | January 5, 2009

Travolta Pathologists in the Bahamas conducted an autopsy on John Travolta’s son, Jett, today as the actor and his family made preparations to return the teenager’s body to the United States.

The 16-year-old was found unconscious Friday in the bathroom of the family vacation home. Travolta and his wife, actress Kelly Preston, have said their son had a history of seizures linked to his diagnosis with Kawasaki syndrome, a disorder that causes inflamed blood vessels in young children.

Bahamian Minister of Health Hubert Minnis confirmed the autopsy was completed, but he declined to say whether physicians had determined a cause of death. Obie Wilchcombe, a family friend and member of the Bahamian Parliament, told the Associated Press that Travolta and Preston planned to fly their son’s remains to Ocala, Fla., where the family has a home.

Lawyers for the actor denied reports that Jett Travolta was not properly medicated because of his parents’ Scientology beliefs. Family attorneys told TMZ.com today that Jett had been taking an anti-seizure medication, Depakote, but over time, the drug’s effectiveness had worn off.

In a statement Sunday, Travolta, 54, and Preston, 46, called Jett “the most wonderful son two parents could ever ask for."

“We are heartbroken our time with him was so brief,” they wrote. The couple also have an 8-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu.

I am so sorry for your loss I too have a son and a daughter who has been diagnosed with ms, my heart is very heavy in thinking of your pain in dealing with Jetts untimely passing. My family has a horse farm in Ocala and we are so proud of your love for our town. You are going to hear all kinds of mean comments turn a deaf ear because there is nothing you can change you are in our thoughts and prayers Gods speed in your healing process.

There was no need for medications because he was in Scientology Detox!
This nutty cult thinks all neuroltists or pyshciatrsts are evil and that they are not real doctors!
So how could they have been propertly treating them if they were true Scientologists? This is no coincidence my friends! He was murdered by a cult!

My heart goes outto the family.. I am sure the family thought they knew what was best for Jett and what the appropriate medical treatment is for a seizure disorder.

I probably have a different opinion and yes, I t have a child with a seizure disorder. Depakote is not the only treatment. It is a miserable medication with a lot of side effects that will make you heavy, cause hair loss and fog your mind. But there are other treatments. What treatment was Jett on?

I will pray for the Travolta family for the loss of their beautiful son!!

Further, in my prayers I will be praying for the judgmental people that do not allow a family to grieve for thier son, but, in the alternative, want to judge the family for thier personal religious beliefs and thier supposed monetary worth.

I'm VERY SORRY for your loss, I have three sons myself, and the thought of one being taken from me is unbearable. Scientology is your right and you should NEVER feel bad over ignorance talking about your monetary worth. I do not come from money, but, I'm don't judge people that do. God Bless and Keep Your Family Close in his Hands!!! Love Cindy

This is a sad situation that people don't even have all the facts on yet and I don't know why some people are attempting to paint a picture of them KNOWING that it was an outcome of their religious belief. How about some sympathy and respect for the parents while we wait to hear the final official finding, eh?

"Overall, life-threatening complications resulting from therapy for Kawasaki disease are exceedingly rare, especially compared with the risk of non-treatment."

Seems fishy that two wealthy people cannot afford proper treatment... If infact this was preventable, I have no pity for these two scientologists. Only the victim.

I'm sorry for your loss, stay strong. everything happens for a reason, i believe it.
He's in a better place, its much more safe for him. And there he'll look out for you and the rest of his loved ones.

rip. Jett. ♥

Dear Mr. and Mrs Travolta there are no words in any language that will bring you comfort. In time while the days go on the unberable pain will never go away but it will get to the point where you will be able to think of your son and not cry histarically, orbut you will be able to get to the point where you can talk out loud about the things he loved, little things he did that brought a smile to your faces. Above all allow yourselves plenty of time to grieve, this will take quite some time but I promise you that while it never goes away it does get easier to remember things. God Bless you both, and keep you all in the palm of his hands

john, kelly, ella our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of sorrow and loss. your precious son is now watching over you from heaven.
