Boy dies from wounds in drive-by shooting
A 14-year-old boy died after being wounded Saturday in a North Hollywood drive-by shooting, Los Angeles police said.
Baudelio Guadalupe Jara of North Hollywood was shot while walking Saturday afternoon in the 7200 block of Vineland Avenue and was taken to a hospital, where he died several hours later. Two suspects were driving in a compact gray vehicle in the area when the passenger fired several rounds from an unknown type of weapon at Jara and drove away.
No arrests have been made and the LAPD is asking anyone with information to contact North Hollywood homicide detectives at (818) 623-4075 or to call 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (527-3247) during weekends and after regular work hours. Callers may also text “CRIMES” with a cellphone or log on to www.lapdonline.org and click on Web Tips.
Obviously gang related. garbage taking out garbage. As long as innocent people are not hurt, it's all good. It's astounding that this article makes a big deal about the "victim" being 14. Isn't that the prime age of gang bangers? Let them all wipe out each other so the rest of us can live in peace.

I read all of thee comments and all I can say is LA is in a steep decline and better do something about it or is will soon be like the movie Blad Runner, utter chaos. What a hell hole and who in their right mind would want to live there. Thank God I left 15 years ago and all you have to blame is the current gang banger mayor abd his brothers in power. What a sad situation.

Just as Wendy Greuel was launching her campaign for City Controller from the relative safety of a Sherman Oaks city park. Maybe she better stay on the job that she is so proud of promoting a safe city while she has been on the Council. She didn't launch her run from the Laurel Plaza park across form her district office, too dangerous near the North Hollywood gangs I guess.

I'm appalled by the loss of life and even more by the comments. By what information do you estimate that the 14 year old who lost their life was a "gangbanger"? Was it the name? Shouldn't we be doing something about these kids that feel the need to join such a volatile organization in order to feel like they're a part of community? But,instead of intervening and reminding them that their lives are worth something, we continually exclude them from the community that values life and their right to live. Instead of rationalizing murder in such a horrifying way we should be doing something about it. Better schools, better after school programs, and reminding them that there is a community out there that loves them.

Our children are our future, whenever we see an innocent life taken it should sadden our outlook on what the world is becoming. There shouldn't be any rejoicing in any death, this was someone's child. Lord grant them serenity in this difficult time.

In response to Nick’s comment. First of all, just because the child lived in an unhealthy environment does not make him garbage or a gang member. It is obvious that your ignorance does not let you see the big picture of the problems our society has constructed for our youth. I had the pleasure of working closely with this youth and I can say that he was a very smart kid. He was not involved in any gang and just because he had a relationship with his neighbors does not make him a gang member. He was a dedicated young man, with aspirations of one day getting his family out of that environment. It is evident that you and many other Americans need to get educated about these low socioeconomic neighborhoods that keep sucking in our youth and drawing them to do non-normative acts. Baudelio was very charismatic with great respect for others, especially his family. He had an enormous heart and a loving personality.
In response to Leiny’s comment about Jara’s nickname, you can’t be serious. I have never been part of a gang, I’m a college graduate and I have tons of nicknames. I’m pretty sure a lot of people are given nicknames by friends and family members, does that make them gang members? NO!!! Like I’ve mentioned before, living in a gang infested neighborhood does not make everyone gang members.
With all do respect, people please get educated about how our society works and stop posting ignorant comments. We are all human beings and just because some of us are less fortunate than others it does not take the worth of a human being. Remember that!!!!!!

As I recall it GOD is the only power for taking us out!.

It is unfortunate that some people are so ignorant that they assume that because a child lives in a gang infested area, they are or will become a gang member. I know the familiy and work nearby to where the killing took place. As much as some families would like to move somewhere nicer, sometimes because of lack of money they don't have a choice.
I would say to all of those that think that this child somehow deserved this, YOU'RE WRONG! Why don't you instead spend your time volunteering at youth centers or even better donate to these programs to help the at risk youth.

The garbage is all the people that sit in their behinds and likes to judge people who are less fortunate Ignorant people like u!!!! that dont know the stuggle these boys go through! No one that treats them with the respect and gives them any credit. There are good boys out there. If we had better community for them. Where they can feel safe and be able to walk around from point A to point B without he fear of being harrased! Or judged! Cause of the way they look.

Baudelio was a one of kind kid. Big heart, respectful, energetic, athletic, friendly, motivated, and enjoyed going to school. We miss having you around Baudelio! My prayers are with Baudelio and his family.

yes, many people are in fact ignorant on this subject and unless they live in l.a. do not know the conditions many of the people live in. i never knew Baudelio closely. we never even spoke more than a sentence to each other but i did know many people who knew him, and even though we never had a conversation i could sense that he was bright and very respectful. i pick up recycling at school and i would always see him and each time he would see me he would give me a plastic bottle or tell me where he saw recycling, he was never rude and was very kind unlike most people that i have to deal with on a daily basis. i sensed he was a great kid and it's unfortunate we never really spoke. may he rest in peace.
i wish the best of luck to his family and his friends who are still struggling with this loss.
