Authorities at the scene of a Westside school-bus collision report that 26 middle-school students have suffered what are believed to be minor injuries and 25 have been transported to local hospitals.

"Twenty-six students complained of pains, but there were no visible injuries," a CHP official said at the scene.

Two school buses were taking about 124 students and 14 adults from Lennox Middle School to the La Brea Tar Pits when one rear-ended the other on the northbound San Diego Freeway at Palms Boulevard. The buses were moved to a Ross Dress for Less parking lot nearby, and about 50 firefighters and paradmedics converged on the scene to evaluate and transport the injured.

The buses were travelling about 20 mph when one suddenly stopped and was rear-ended by the other, said CHP Officer Chris Burch.
